Charlottesville VA - PEST-HEAT had the opportunity to "show-off" our heat treatment system for pallets at the Mid-Atlantic International Phytosanitation Regulations for Raw Wood Packaging and Pallets. The conference was an all day event consisting of both educational sessions as well as a demonstration of a pallet heat treatment system.

PEST-HEAT demonstrated to over 90 attendees a typical hardwood pallet heat treatment. First stage of the demonstration was gathering everyone outside to give a little background about our company and how we got started in the heat treating business. Next, the loading and pallet probing was shown. A few questions arose out of the audience, and Product Manager Mack Reed answered them with a breeze. After a few more features and benefits of the unit were mentioned, the chamber doors were shut and the heat treatment system was off and running. The attendees filed back inside the conference room and continued with more educational sessions while the heat treatment ran its course.

Approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes later, the attendees returned to the pallet heat treatment demonstration site and all stood around to watch the chamber doors open. Immediately curious pallet manufacturers gathered around to see and to touch the heat treated pallets. A chart was passed around that documented our treatment time as well as proved to the industry that we meet the specified criteria of 132.8ºF for 30 minutes. A few more questions were addressed and most of the group headed back inside. A few attendees milled around and inspected the pallets before heading back inside to finish out the rest of the conference.

Overall the heat treated pallets demonstration was success!
